The Peach State Post 10-30-15

The Candler Field Museum, located in Williamson will present its 9th annual Veteran’s Day Celebration on Saturday, November 7th. The program this year will consist of aircraft flybys, Army helicopter static displays, WWII reenactors, and patriotic music.  The event will begin with a live concert featuring the Freedom Belles and the Griffin Spalding County Elementary School Chorus.  In addition, music will include songs by Mrs. Sylvia Hollums and Eric Moye.  The Griffin High School Junior ROTC drill team will also perform. Gates open at 10 AM and Lunch is served at 11 AM.

There will be  Precepts Ministries International event at Lakeside Baptist Church in Milledgeville featuring CEO of Precept Ministries David Arthur as the guest speaker. David will be speaking on  “10 Truths for rebuilding our community”. This event will take place Saturday November 7th from 1-4 pm at Lakeside Baptist Church in Milledgeville. Five Loaves & Two Fish Food Pantry Needs Frozen Turkeys. Please help hungry families by donating a frozen turkey or making a monetary donation so the Food Pantry can provide those in need this Thanksgiving.  Frozen turkeys need to be delivered by November 19 to 412 W. Slayton Avenue, Griffin Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM  – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:00 to 6:00, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  The facility is closed on Fridays and Sundays.

The Peach State Post for October 23rd

The Atlanta Recruiting Battalion will sponsor a coat drive in an effort to help families in need. The drive is in partnership with Life Foundation whose primary purpose is to foster a public service of providing gently used coats to multiple organizations and to needy individual within the Georgia footprint. Presentation of the collected items will be on Veteran’s Day, November 11th. The coats can be dropped off at Atlanta Recruiting Battalion centers Monday through Thursday from 9 to 6 pm and Friday from 9 am to 3 pm.

ShepherdCare Hospice is sponsoring a coat drive in partnership with Impact Christian Ministries in Griffin. Those who wish to donate their “gently used” or new coats  can do so by dropping them off at their office located at 1501B Kalamazoo Road in Griffin. Additional drop offs can be found in Thomaston at 212 Cherokee Road, and at The Thomaston Ford Dealer and the City of Thomaston Fire Dept. For more information call 678-603-1321

Flippen United Methodist Church will host a Catfish Fry on Saturday, October 24th from 11 AM to 4:30 PM. The meal will include catfish, hush puppies, French fries, cole slaw, drink and dessert. Tickets are $12. For more information, please call (678) 432-1311.

Ringgold Baptist Church is having a Fall Festival on Saturday October 24th from 4 to 6 pm. There will be inflatables, a cake walk,  and games and activities for the entire family.

Pastor Robert Vines and the members of The Ole Country Church at 2649 Hwy 155 North, in McDonough would like to invite you to their 3rd Sunday night singing on October 18th, featuring the Perrys.  No cover charge, a love offering will be accepted.

Freedom from Addiction classes will begin next Monday, October 19th  at the Offices of Christian Families Today in Newnan.  Classes will meet every Monday for the next fifteen weeks from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Christian Families Today’s Freedom from Addition Program is a fifteen week program that helps those who are struggling with addictive behavior walk in victory by discovering and living from their identity in Christ.
