The Office Exercise Program

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!  — Philippians 2:5-8

So watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, “I repent,” forgive him. Luke 17:3-4

Hey, something fun for the weekend kickoff edition of New Life Praise! Is it called cornbread or Johnny Cake? Leave your answer in the comment section!

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  — 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

Here is something light-hearted and fun for Friday! Name six or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter ‘S.’

Chicken Dance

FILED IN Uncategorized No Comments

Today is National Chicken Dance Day! I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve done my share of chicken dances :).

One of the ways I used to supplement my income, when I was working as a Christian Radio DJ\Producer in the Chesapeake Bay area, was as a Wedding\party DJ on the weekends. No matter what the occasion, sooner or latter I would get a request for the chicken dance usually followed a bit later with a request for the electric slide. *sigh*

But as silly as I thought the dances were, I always found joy in seeing so many people laughing, flapping wings, and sliding to the left and then to the right. At many wedding parties my mind often wondered in thought to what it would be like one day at the Great Wedding Feast when Jesus comes for His bride the church.

Although I doubt we will do the chicken dance, I have no doubt that that day will be one filled with much rejoicing, laughter, and happy tears.

Revelation 19:6-9

6Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7Let us rejoice and be glad
      and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
 8Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)

9Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

Who cares what ‘they’ say

When I read the gospel accounts of Jesus’ earthly ministry, one of the things I like about Him is that his mission didn’t depend on the commentary of other folks, or whether the Jerusalem stock market (was there such a thing?) was up or down. He was a man on a heavenly mission.

Take for example the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Here He is being tossed around in a little boat by oversized waves and what is He doing? Sleeping! I like this guy! No matter what was happening He knew His heavenly father was in control and that nothing that happened here on earth would throw His dad for a loop.

Do you find yourself on a proverbial “Sea of Galilee” today? Is the turmoil of the housing market, the job market, or whatever throwing you around? Are you longing for that peace of mind that Jesus had?

You know, nothing happening today threw God for a loop. He knew it was coming before we did and He prepared enough grace and mercy for us to deal with it before hand. All we have to do is accept it and put our faith in him. And when we do we will be able to have peace in the middle of life’s storms. We will be able to praise Him when times are rough because we will know and experience that His grace is sufficient.

If you find yourself tossed around by the turmoil of life, I invite you to join me on New Life Praise! and together we will set aside the worries of life and offer up praise to our heavenly father! See ya on the radio from 4:30-7pm!!!

MATTHEW 8:23-27

23Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer”. Romans 12:12

This morning my oldest daughter and I let one of her “pets” go free. About a month ago I came home after hosting New Life Praise! to find a little insect cage with a caterpillar — something she found at the playground. We started to worry after the caterpillar refused to eat any of the fresh leaves we put in the cage, but one morning we found the caterpillar all bundled up in a cocoon.

I told my daughter that the caterpillar wasn’t dead, but that it was transforming into a butterfly. So we patiently waited for about a month before the butterfly emerged just yesterday and today before I left for work we let the butterfly go.

You couldn’t ask for a better teaching moment than telling your daughter that through the shed blood of Jesus we go through a similar transformation from a ugly spiritual caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly. We “die” to our old self and emerge a completely new creature!

Today on New Life Praise! we are celebrating that new found life in Christ and if you haven’t experienced that transformation I invite you to join us to find out more about this wonderful new life in Christ!

Don’t forget — Spring Sharathon begins in just a few days on May 17th!

A brand new week!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Congrats again to all the moms out there, I hope your Sunday was special.

Today on New Life Praise! we will continue to honor mothers with a hilarious top ten list of a fustrated mother.  Number 2 is — “Your children tell you that you said ‘yes’ and you don’t even remember the question.”

Our verse of the day is — “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”  — 1 Corinthians 1:18

And don’t forget that ONE week from today, We will begin our spring sharathon! The old English clergyman Sydney Smith once said, “It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little – do what you can. ”

Whether you can give $5 or $500 doesn’t matter, what matters is that we all chip in and do our part no matter what the amount! If you enjoy the ministry of New Life FM I hope you will make plans to join us for this special time May 17th, 18th, and 19th.

Where is your treasure at?

FILED IN Uncategorized No Comments

Yesterday saw the stock market take a historic 1,000 point plummet. At first it was blamed on worries over Greek debt, but then it was reported that it might have been operator error. Yep, it seems someone either omitted or added a zero where one didn’t belong, which in turn triggered computers to dump stocks.

Thousands, if not millions, of dollars were lost by investors and investigations have been launched. It just goes to remind us how fragile our earthly investments can be. Just one wrong key stroke, and poof! your life’s work is gone.

If anything I hope yesterday’s events have caused you to reevaluate your life. What are you pouring your life energy into? Your job? Your investments? Your house or possessions?

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:19-21

Being a dad has taught me to reprioritize my life. I realized that spending long days at the office trying to advance my career, or buying such a large house and so many possessions the payments keep me at work longer and even require one or two side jobs is just not worth neglecting my kids.

The old saying, “you can’t take it with you” is not 100 percent correct. Sure I can’t take my house or my wallstreet portfolio (if I had one), but there is one thing we can take with us, namely souls. If I spend more time investing in my kids, maybe through my involvement they will come to the same saving knowledge of Christ as I did. Or maybe by investing more time in church and great commission work I could invest in the eternal well-being of others.

Or maybe by donating to that Christian radio station I enjoy so much I could allow them to continue their ministry and through my dollar reach someone who would never knock on a church door, but would be willing to turn on a radio and surf the stations.

So the question is before you and me…”where is our treasure at?” I hope you will join me on New Life Praise! today as we worship the One who provides!

The National Day of Prayer

FILED IN Uncategorized No Comments

Today marks the 59th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to pray for this great nation and her citizens. Just flip on the news any given day and you can see how much we need God’s help. The countless crimes, murders, natural disasters, economic turmoil, hurting families and children, and now an even stronger push to take God out of society completely.

Many communities are hosting prayer events around this nation and I hope you will find one to attend. For a list of events you can go to NationalDayofPrayer.org and please remember that prayer isn’t set aside for special days. We are commanded in the scriptures to pray without ceasing.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” — Ephesians 6:18

I hope you will join me on New Life Praise! today from 4:30-7pm for a special time of prayer at 5:45. God bless America! And continue to pray for her leaders!
