Wednesday is upon us! Where has the week gone?

I had to go and find this pic of my youngest daughter enjoying her first snowfall in Mississippi. The Chagnon family was recently located in Tupelo before we made the move to Metro Atlanta. Originally the wife and I hail from New England. My wife is from Boston and I’m from Vermont. This pic is in honor of the 2 feet of snow some places got just yesterday in my home state! Boy, I’m glad to be in Georgia where spring is firmly rooted!

Welcome to a Tuesday edition of New Life Praise! Here is our verse of the day:

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. –1 Corinthians 1:18

That verse reminds me of the old hymn Rescue the Perishing. I know this is true for me, but maybe it’s true for you too, at one time in my life the message of the cross was nothing but foolishness and it didn’t make sense. Then one day it was explained to me in such a way that something just clicked and in an instant it went from not making any sense to making perfect sense. If you are a follower of Christ, I encourage you to share with us the moment that the message of Christ “made sense” to you. You can leave your story in the comment section of this blog post. I’d love to hear the many diverse stories.

I hope you all had a great weekend despite the rain that moved through the Atlanta area. Sunday proved to be an awesome day and the family and I enjoyed the afternoon at Southern Belle Farm!

Since joining the team at New Life FM, we have been searching for a new church. This past Sunday we visited Rock Springs Church near Milner and enjoyed a great service by Dr. Benny Tate. Dr. Tate took time to congratulate his drummer (from Casting Crowns) on winning Artist of the Year at the recent Dove Awards. Congrats guys!

Following Church, my family and I spent the day in McDonough where we sampled some fine Thai cuisine at the Red Orchid — best ginger catfish and mango chicken in town! Then it was off to Southern Belle Farm for some Georgia strawberries!

The crop was excellent and it took no time before our two buckets were filled with the plump red berries. After picking in the hot sun, we cooled off with some homemade strawberry icecream from the concession stand and then visted some of the farm animals.  

Southern Belle Farm has something for kids of all ages, right now of course the strawberries and then in June the blackberries and blueberries will be ripe for picking. They also have sweet corn, a hay maze, and pumpkin patch and lots of other activities for the kids. All around a great place to bring the family for some fresh Metro Atlanta produce!

 Spring has sprung in Metro Atlanta! The strawberries are ripe for picking and I snapped this shot of what I think is red clover. There was just acres and acres of this stuff along the road in Butts County.

It reminded me of the crimson blood of Jesus that makes all things new and covers a multitude of sins. I’m a New England boy, so I’m not quite sure why the farmers plant this clover, but the state flower of Vermont is the red clover so I’ll just take it as a welcome mat to the great state of Georgia! Does anyone know why this clover is planted? I’m just curious.

Today on New Life Praise we will be playing great music and programming as always from 4:30-7 pm. We’ll make your ride home joyful, even if you are stuck in rush hour traffic! LOL! And if you are not on the road this afternoon…tune in anyway! There is something for everyone.

You’ve probably heard that today is earth day. On the program today we will be visited by an individual from the Cornwall Alliance. Dr. Jim Tonkowich will talk to us about how Christians should view earth day and take care of this beautiful planet on loan from God. The Cornwall Alliance is a coalition of pastors, Christian leaders, theologians, and scientists who believe in Biblical stewardship of our environment.
